Final review of intern plan with Dr. Garza

My meeting with Dr. Irene Garza went very well and a lot smoother than I had planned for it to go.  Prior to the meeting, I had already submitted two copies of my internship plan to her for review.  One was my original draft and the other was a revised draft that I created after reading everyone’s comments on my blog.  We both had the opportunity to do pre-conference reviews on the plan so the conference was not very lengthy.

When the meeting began, I gave her an overview of how I had chosen the activities.  My choice of activities was based on the self-assessment, the superintendency test, and items that I believe would be the most beneficial.  After sharing this information with her, she made two comments that made a world of difference to me.  She liked my plan and said that she was impressed on how I had organized it chronological order and had varied the activities.  She was also very positive about the self-imposed timelines I had created on the document.  I was also very thankful that she said she is willing to provide me with time away from my current position so that I may complete some of the items I outlined in my plan.

In wrapping up our conference, she did not recommend adding or taking away anything from my plan.

I like the opportunity to get time away if needed to complete your plan. I was given the same consideration. Please share your findings and experiences as you complete your activities.
